I am not one to generally promote taking any kind of medicine to people because personally I hate to take medicine. However, I found myself in a rather uncomfortable situation a few weeks ago and I had tried everything to relieve my issue. When you first build your business or when you are moving to new ventures, you will run across many decisions to make.  One of these decisions may be to choose whether or not you should accept debit and credit cards from your customers.  Here are the pros and cons to using either.

The first pro is that it’s fast and easy.  Whether you are a retail store with cashiers or a restaurant with servers taking care of orders, it’s much faster and easier.  That means faster processing and servicing, which leads us to our next benefit.

The best benefit is that you can better satisfy your customers.  When people are using credit cards, the lines move faster and customers get their goods faster.  It may also allow you to save by hiring fewer cashiers.  Many customers also prefer to use credit or debit cards because of the speed and simplicity to them.

Two cons are that it takes longer to get your money and it costs you money.  You will have to pay for credit card processing.  However, the fees are minimal, and as long as you don’t depend on getting cash immediately, waiting a few days shouldn’t be a problem.

There may be other pros and cons, but looking at these biggest ones, you can see that the benefits outweigh the cons.  Satisfied customers mean more money.
