My parents never let me have a credit card when I was in college, and I am thankful to them for that. I saw too many friends get into trouble, and I just didn’t want that temptation to buy anything I wanted. I had a debit card and a checking account. If the money wasn’t in my account, I couldn’t purchase anything. I never have had any credit card debt, and I don’t ever plan to. With more and more debit cards being accepted as credit cards anyhow, I don’t see much of a need for credit cards. We have one for emergencies, but even when we do use it, we pay it off right away. That way, we never have to worry about racking up interest.
