I am a medical biller in a physician’s office. I used to submit insurance claims electronically to individual insurance companies. Now I use a clearinghouse. I love using the medical billing clearinghouse. Claims used to be denied on a regular basis, because the wrong diagnosis or procedure codes were used, or because the insurance company’s requirements had not been met. Very few claims are denied now, as the clearinghouse ensures that the codes are correct and the claims meet the insurance company’s guidelines. It makes my job a lot easier, and it saves me from a lot of duplicate work.
