I was watching this really cool documentary the other day on this weird kind of cold reading. Cold reading is when you pretend to be psychic, but you really aren’t. In certain circles it’s referred to as mentalism.
Most magicians know at least some of it, because magicians are supposed to be able to do all kinds of mental tricks and stuff. That’s part of their allure I guess. In addition to doing card tricks, at least if you want to be a world famous magician, it helps to be able to read peoples minds, and talk to spirits and stuff. At least if you want to make the big money.
