Thanks to high tech computer software and highly sensitive cameras, the fruit packing industry is becoming much more streamlined. The cameras can be viewed remotely from multiple computers within an office. The camera on the Ellips EFG 400 can view up to 35 individual cherry cups per second. The cherry sorting is then done based on grade, dimension of surface area and size. The defect technology has not yet been perfected for smaller fruit, but is highly accurate on larger varieties. An optional upgrade to the vision system is to grade by weight. Each cherry is packaged accordingly and shipped to be enjoyed by consumers.
